Homemade Taco Seasoning

Fresher, cheaper and far less salty than the packet, with the heat level fully in your control.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4-1 tsp cayenne to taste

Instructions

    Measure all the spices into a jar.

    Seal and shake hard for 20 seconds until the color is uniform.

    Label with the date and store away from heat and light.

  4. 4

    Use 2 tbsp per pound of meat, added after browning.

  5. 5

    Add 1/3 cup water or broth and simmer 5 minutes so the spices bloom.

    Keeps its punch for about six months.
