The only ground beef taco recipe you need — deeply seasoned, saucy but never soupy.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp cornstarch

Instructions

  1. 1

Brown the beef over medium-high heat without stirring too often, so it develops crust.

  2. 2

Add onion and cook 3 minutes until soft, then add garlic for 30 seconds.

  3. 3

Drain excess fat, leaving about a tablespoon in the pan.

  4. 4

Stir in the spices and tomato paste and toast 1 minute.

  5. 5

Whisk cornstarch into the broth, pour it in, and simmer 5 minutes until glossy and clinging.

  6. 6

Taste, adjust salt, and serve hot in shells or tortillas.
