Taco Bell Menu, Ranked by Calories

Fast-food Mexican menus span a huge range, from roughly 130-calorie single tacos to burritos and loaded boxes well past 1,000. Ranking the menu by calories makes it obvious where the weight actually comes from: cheese, sauces, fried tortillas, and combo sides rather than the taco itself.

Lightest tier: under 200 calories

Plain crunchy and soft tacos generally sit between 150 and 200 calories. Simple soft tacos with seasoned beef, lettuce and cheese are usually the single cheapest calorie item on any fast-food Mexican menu, along with side items such as black beans or a plain tortilla.

Middle tier: 200 to 400 calories

Supreme and loaded tacos land here once sour cream and extra cheese are added, typically 200 to 320. Small burritos with beans, rice and cheese usually run 350 to 430. Chalupas and gorditas, which use fried or thicker shells, sit around 320 to 400.

Heavy tier: 400 to 800 calories

Large burritos and quesadillas dominate this tier. A grilled cheese burrito or a chicken quesadilla commonly reaches 500 to 720 calories, driven mostly by melted cheese and creamy sauce. Nachos with cheese sauce, beef and sour cream land near 700.

Heaviest tier: 800 calories and up

Crunchwrap-style items with fries, layered nacho boxes, and combo meals with a side and a regular soda routinely clear 1,000 calories. A medium soda alone adds around 200, and a side of fries or chips adds 300 to 500.

How to build a lighter drive-thru order

Order two or three plain tacos rather than one large burrito. Ask for no sour cream and light cheese, which typically removes 100 to 200 calories. Choose soft over fried shells. Swap the soda for water or an unsweetened drink. Add extra lettuce, pico and hot sauce, which cost almost nothing calorically. A three-taco order with no sour cream and water comes in near 500 calories with about 25 grams of protein.

What to know about the numbers

Chains update recipes and portion sizes regularly, and regional menus differ, so treat these tiers as guidance rather than exact figures. Every major chain publishes a current nutrition calculator, and checking it before you order is the single most reliable move.
